The wonder and real magic of Easter lies in what most choose to overlook. Sure it is nice to think of chocolate eggs, holidays and hot cross buns, but that is not what this special time is really about. It is about one of the greatest gifts ever given- the opportunity to be saved and live with no fear of death and the darkness beyond. It is a time to realize that the chains have been broken, the price for our freedom settled and the ultimate price for our lives paid. Jesus Christ sacrificed himself, giving up His innocent life as the perfect payment for our sinful, stained lives. Now, because of His gift and the immense pain physically, mentally and emotionally He went though – we can look ahead with joy and hope. I am just blown over by thinking of this act of pure mercy and unselfishness – knowing you are going to suffer extreme pain and death and willing to face it willingly while those you are doing it for mock and spit on you. Beyond full human comprehension – but no matter how it is considered – it is still beyond wonderful and deserving of our respect, reverence and gratefulness.
I hope everyone’s Easter weekend is filled with joy, peace and togetherness, remembering the truth and wonderful reality behind the feasting and holiday.
