Step Out

Are you waiting for others to live your life for you? It is such a dangerous trap to fall into because it happens slowly and subconsciously. I have sometimes seen how people get terribly irritated and hopeless with someone, and only after realizing the root of the problem, does it make sense. Many times, us humans live in a ‘self-preservation’ mode. We do not like to get hurt emotionally, mentally or physically (unless you are masochistic, and that’s another topic all together) and avoid injury sometimes at great costs. One of the biggest prices we pay is when we miss out on life, when we rather take a back seat to someone else’s life, just so we will not be the ones getting hurt. It is like getting tickets for an amazing concert, you have front seats and the best view in the house, but instead of taking the opportunity by the horns, you rather will watch it on TV from the safety of your house. That is the danger of not being aware of your goals and dreams, those things that grow in your soul that make you want to travel/study/explore, not knowing they are there and not wanting to nurture them, we rely on others to live life, and we will just watch. Many times the cause for unrest, depression and anger is because you have this desire in you to live, but you are denying it to yourself. And instead of realizing what is happening, you then project your feelings on another person, questioning, ‘What are you doing with your life? You have so much potential.’ or ‘Don’t you want to make a difference’ or even, ‘You need to stop messing around and do something worthwhile.’ These are just questions we are actually asking ourselves. We need to begin realizing that we need to start fulfilling our dreams and working to the future, stop expecting others to live for us and work up the courage to step out by ourselves. It is definitely worth the ride. If something feels so important to you and you can’t understand why others are not doing something about it/making a difference, maybe that is your cue to step up and get living. Each one of us has a specific place and a unique life-mission to accomplish.

The only cure is to get out there and start living, opening your arms to the world and all it’s wonders. Enjoy! 🙂
