What does reading do? Well…it does a whole lot of things, allows people to learn new languages, customs, and hundreds of other things. No denying it – books carry a certain power. Filled with words, more than mere conversations can relate, words that have the ability to change ways of thinking and teach new ones. They also can teach you to think of and form your own stories, allow you to become someone else for a time. For the duration of a novel you can be a pirate, explorer, elf, anything and anyone you could imagine. Reading gives us the opportunity to see/experience life through the eyes and in the shoes of another.
Reading has the power to unlock your mind, make you aware of other worlds, cultures, histories and lives. It stretches your imagination and improves your perspective of the world around you and those who live in it.
I think this is one of the amazing things of education – teaching to read. In reading, hundreds of adventures are unlocked, worlds explored and people met.
