Walruses were always exciting, massive creatures on National Geographic channel that I watched with great interest and amusement growing up. Wonderfully huge lumps of living lard with bright eyes and long shiny tusks.
The caring nature of these creatures has recently come to my attention, especially the care and tenderness shown between a mother and her young. A very interesting and touching fact is that one of the most devoted of all mammal mothers is the walrus. She clearly exhibits her care, devotion and love for her babies; often nuzzling them gently, and using her front flippers to touch and reassure her young. When diving into water, a walrus mother will also often cradle her baby, protecting her calf from possible danger.
